In a post-Diaspora galaxy where Trans-Stellar Companies rule supreme, battles for profit are vicious and bloody. Big Business demands ever bigger guns, and as a signed-up member of MPC Marine Core 57th Division it’s your responsibility to protect those vital corporate assets. Soldier, enforcer, tax collector, spy… it might not be the most respectable job in the universe, but the pay is reliable and health benefits top notch.

So after putting down the latest food riots on Beta-Assaides, you’re rather looking forward to a spot of R&R in Lemaro’s Pleasure Palace back on Sirius V. But as MPC cruiser Archangael slips through subspace on course for home, it intersects a brief emergency cry radiating from somewhere on the galactic rim. As Archangael slews to face the signal’s source,  pushing jump engines past redline as it locks in the target coordinates, its cool machine mind experiences what it can only imagine is… fear.

Seventeen hours later, Archangael spreads as dust around a sullen orange star out on the edge of Forever. While on the lone planet below, its sole surviving contingent of crack marines is unhappily discovering that shore leave is well and truly canceled.
